Esta Judite ignorava que tivesse havido outra e célebre, quanto mais um Holofernes. Ninguém a conhecia por outro nome. Este tinha para ela uma voz especial que a fazia corresponder à chamada. Conseguira depois de sérios trabalhos aparentar toda uma naturalidade para esse nome de mulher, sem denunciar que escondia o autêntico. Mas aquilo agora já estava feito.

This Judith was unaware that there had been another celebrated one, let alone a Holofernes. No one knew her by any other name. This one had a special voice which made her answer his call. After a great deal of hard serious work, she managed to make this woman's name seem completely natural, without revealing that she was hiding her real name. But that was now done.
