A série de Livros de Artista de grande formato O Nome que a Cidade te Deu surge na sequência da articulação entre duas realidades: o nome e a marca indelével que este deixa no sujeito, a cidade as suas janelas – translúcidas como todas as pessoas, mediadoras, seletivas.
Esta translucidez marcou a escolha do suporte e o desenvolvimento plástico de todo o trabalho. As narrativas concêntricas – consequência direta de uma janela com vista para outra janela com vista para outra janela – articulam-se em folhas de papel vegetal que deixam sempre ver a página precedente. As folhas destes livros cinemáticos não estão cosidas, e podem ser separadas e funcionar como desenhos independentes.
Herança da prática de documentários ficcionados, os nomes e as narrativas de cada livro surgem de associações que cruzam o quotidiano, o biográfico, o poético, fotografias dadas e outras encontradas.
Os nomes, as palavras mais vazias de todas até lhes pormos gente dentro, escreveu Saramago, carregam consigo uma série de associações simbólicas, algumas mais imediatas e reconhecíveis do que outras. Porém, as hipóteses narrativas não se fecham no simbolismo que a aparente arbitrariedade do nome carrega; tornam-se, ao serem manuseados, em testemunhos processuais, histórias do encontro entre duas sombras, do diálogo entre duas janelas e entre a janela figurada que é o desenho.

The series of large-format Artist's Books The Name the City Gave You emerged from the articulation of two realities: the name and the undetachable mark it leaves on the individual, the city and its windows - translucent like all people, mediating, selective.
This translucency marked the choice of the medium and the plastic development of the whole work. The concentric narratives - a direct consequence of a window overlooking another window overlooking another window - are articulated on sheets of tracing paper that always let us see the preceding page. The spreads of these cinematic books are not sewn together and can be separated to function as independent drawings.
Inheritance of the practice of fictionalized documentaries, the names and the narratives of each book derive from associations that cross quotidian, biographical, poetic, given photographs and found ones.
Names, the emptiest words of all until we put people inside them, wrote Saramago, carry with them a series of symbolic associations, some more immediate and recognizable than others. However, the narrative hypotheses are not closed in the symbolism that the apparent arbitrariness of the name carries; they become, when handled, procedural testimonies, stories of the encounter between two shadows, of the dialogue between two windows and between the alegorical window that is the drawing.
